Nodak Mutual Insurance and the Fargo Police Department will host its annual DNA LifePrint Child Safety Event for October 17, 2009 at West Acres Mall from 9 a. m to 3 p.m. Parents and guardians can get child identification kits at no cost to the first 1,200 children.        

Event staff will take a digital photograph of each child at the event and biometric fingerprints. Parents and guardians will also receive a DNA kit they can use at home and a list of safety tips for children.

Organizers will not keep any records of the children participating in the event; the only record kept will be the one parents receive to take home.
