When it comes to insuring teenagers, parents want the best possible rate for their young driver.

Teenagers, however, often have higher premiums because they are likely inexperienced and have a greater risk of accidents.

At Nodak Insurance, we offer discounts – and incentives - for safe driving habits (and good grades!) which may help reduce teen and young adult driver car insurance costs.

·         Is your teen a good student? We offer a Good Student Discount. This discount, up to 20 percent, is available to drivers under age 25 who are attending high school or an accredited college or university on a full-time basis and attain at least a B grade point average. The insured/agent must submit a current official grade report furnished by the school to Nodak Insurance.

·         Defensive Driver Course Discount – This 5 percent discount is available to young drivers who have successfully completed an approved defensive driver program and will be applied for three years.

·         Route 1000 Discount – Young drivers who complete the Route 1000 driver safety awareness program with a parent are eligible for this 7 percent discount.  The young driver must be rated on the policy with continuous liability coverage and maintain a valid North Dakota Driver’s License.  Any traffic convictions and/or at-fault accidents will result in removal of the discount.  This discount remains through the policy renewal of the young driver’s 25^th birthday.

·         When the time comes for the young adult driver to secure their own auto insurance policy separate from their parents’ Nodak Insurance auto policy, there is the Extended Household Discount. This discount replaces the multi-car and multi-policy discounts currently on the parent’s auto policy and applies a 25 percent discount to the young driver’s auto policy until age 30.
